Core Training in Playback Theatre

This course provides a thorough foundation in playback theatre (35 hours). As well as basic skills and performance forms, students will be learning principles, applications, and the history & geography of playback theatre. In the rich atmosphere and dynamics of the playback experience, there will be opportunities to try out the roles of conductor, musician as well as actor. Throughout, students will be telling their own stories and transforming them into theatre in an atmosphere of fun and fellowship. The course is designed for newcomers and those wishing to have a thorough review of the basics. Once you have done Core Training, many other workshops are open to you.

2010: CT in Herefordshire with Davina Holmes

2010: October 1 to 4: 4 days (3 nights) residential

Fri 11am to Mon 4pm

at Poulstone Court, Kings Caple, Herefordshire HR1 4UA

As this training will run parallel to a next-level training – Deeper Listening – the shared social time will be particularly rich and stimulating.

About the Venue: A spacious Victorian country house, Poulstone Court lies in lush rolling countryside mid-way between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye. Close to the Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons, the Forest of Dean, Symonds Yat, the Malvern Hills, and sites of historical interest, it is easily accessible via the M4, M5 and A40, and easy reach by train from London and Birmingham. (Fees are inclusive of all meals, accommodation and training)

2011: CT in London with Veronica Needa

2011: January 14-16 & 21-23 (double weekend non-residential)

Fri 6.30-9.30pm, Sat/Sun 10.30am-6pm

at Camden Chinese Community Centre, 9 Tavistock Place, London WC1H 9SN

This course will be convenient for those of you living in or near London, and can fit this around a working week. Students from further away are also welcome. We will help with finding suitable accommodation for you.

About the venue: We will make ourselves at home within the heart of an active community space. The Camden CCC has taken custodial ownership of a characterful listed building near Russell Square, and a short walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras and Euston Stations.
