Report ON OUR PREVIOUS RETREAT

2018: Sep 26-30     IONA RENEWAL RETREAT

with Jonathan Fox

in the Village Hall, Isle of Iona, Inner hebrides

We used playback theatre and other action methods to take stock and find new sources of energy and commitment.  The wildness of the weather, the beauty of nature and the history of the island did indeed stimulate much reflection and sharing for us all. Our gratitude to Jonathan Fox for guidance on this journey together in his very special way!

The journey to and from Iona itself was a huge adventure too. From Oban, a fishing village on the West coast of Scotland to the Isle of Mull with ferries suspended and the timetable changed; then across Mull on a bus to another smaller ferry terminal Fionnphort, where the 10 minute ferry ride across to Iona was entirely dependant on whether the rough seas of our first days there were calm enough for the crossing. The weather improved throughout our time together with glorious sunshine for our long walks on the Isle. A very special time together with participants coming from across the UK and the world.

Iona is a tiny island off the southwest coast of Mull in the Inner Hebrides. It is only 1.5 miles wide by 3 miles long, with a population of around 120 permanent residents. Despite this, Iona has a special place in the heart of many people the world…
